Soccer Motivator Image - Blood Sweat Respect - First One You Give, last one you earn

A lot of people like to talk about respect. They feel like the world owes them something and any time they walk on the field or into the gym, they deserve respect. There’s a problem with that mindset though.

Respect isn’t just given, it’s earned

Sidebar 1

You earn respect by training hard. You earn respect by giving your all. Respect comes when you show people that you are doing something MORE than just stepping onto the field. Respect comes when people see that you are different than the 95% of players who say they want to be great, but aren’t willing to work for that greatness.

You don’t get respect just by showing up. Anyone can show up. Anyone can walk through the door at the gym. Anyone can put their name down on a signup form for tryouts. You don’t get respect by doing something just anyone can do.

Instead, respect is bought. It’s bought by the blood and sweat you put in training for your goal. It’s bought by never quitting and never giving up. Every time you go out and practice, that sweat is what will eventually buy you the respect you want. Why is this so important?

Sidebar 2 Option 2It’s important because we live in a world of big talkers. We live in a world of people lying to themselves and everyone else about what they’re going to achieve. “I’ll be the best,” they say, boasting about the great things they’re going to achieve. But when the time comes to put in the work to achieve great things, these people are nowhere to be found.

This is why respect must be earned. Talk is cheap, and people look to your actions to see how they should truly feel about you. If people see you talking big and working little, they’ll never respect you. However, if they see you putting in the work, they’ll know you’re serious. If they see you in pain, time and time again, but never quitting, they’ll know you’re worthy of respect.
