I’ve repeated many times how great juggling a soccer ball is for developing your ball control skills. As you develop your juggling skills, one of the things you’re going to want to be able to do is a flick up.

The flick up is basically any move you do to get the ball up in the air without using your hands. They can be anything from popping the ball up with your toe to complicated tricks where you bring your leg all the way around the ball as it pops up in the air.

This video will walk you step by step through 5 soccer juggling flick-ups that you can do with your juggling.

Flick Up 1 – The Toe Lift

Start with your foot on top of the ball. Pull it back onto your toe. Lift with your toe to pop the ball up in the air.

Flick Up 2 – The Double Toe Lift

Start with your feet on both sides of the ball. Do a slight hop and bring your feet together. Your toes will lift the ball up in the air.

Flick Up 3 – The Opposite Foot Pull

Start with one foot on top of the ball. Pull the ball back onto the toe of your opposite foot. Lift with the toe of your opposite foot to pop the ball up in the air.

Flick Up 4 – The Stepover Heel Pop

Plant one foot on the ground behind the ball. Step over the ball with your opposite foot. Hit the ball backwards with your heel into your plant foot. Lift with your plant foot as the ball hits it to pop the ball up into the air.

Flick Up 5 – The Around the World Flick

Easily the hardest of the 5. Pull the ball back onto your toe as if you were doing the toe lift. As you lift the ball into the air, start moving your foot out and around the ball. Continue all the way until your foot has done a complete circle around the ball. This is easier if you keep the ball close to your body because your foot doesn’t have to cover as much distance.
