Abilities Developed

  • Ball Control
  • Touch with soles and insides of feet
  • Balance and lightness on feet

Equipment Needed

  • Soccer Ball

Drill Instructions

  1. Start with the sole of your foot on the ball
  2. Pull the ball backward with your sole
  3. Push the ball forward with the inside of your foot
  4. Catch the ball with your sole and pull it back again

This ball control drill will help you develop your touch with your sole, the inside of your foot, and your transitions between the two. Often when dribbling in a game, you’re going to want to be able to stop the ball’s momentum, change direction slightly, and start dribbling in another direction.

This drill helps you practice that motion (stop the ball with your sole, then push it in another direction), as well as helping you get a lot of touches on the ball.

Drill Variations

  • Alternate between left and right foot
  • Alternate between pushing with different parts of the foot (laces, inside, outside of foot)
